The Basics

Race 2 the Point is a family-friendly event organized by the Scarborough Primary School PTA that brings together students, families, local businesses, and community members for a day of fun, fitness, and fundraising. The event features a 5K run and walk, a ½ Mile Dash for children ages 12 and under, and a Kids’ Fun Run for our youngest athletes. Attendees will also enjoy visiting sponsors at the Race Expo and exploring activities in the Kids’ Fun Zone. All proceeds from Race 2 the Point directly benefit Scarborough’s primary schools, funding initiatives like new technology, classroom materials, field trips, and resources to support our dedicated teachers and staff.

The Details

The 15th Annual Race 2 the Point will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

  • 8:00-9:00AM – Day-of Registration and Bib/Packet Pickup
  • 8:00-10:30AM – Race Expo
  • 8:45AM –  Kids Fun Run
  • 9:00AM – Kids ½ Mile Dash
  • 9:15AM – Kids ½ Mile Dash Awards Ceremony
  • 9:30AM – 5K Run • Walk
  • 9:30-10:30AM – Kids Fun Zone Activities and Post-Race Refreshments
  • 10:30AM – Awards Ceremony*
    **The awards ceremony for the 5K overall and age group winners will take place shortly after all 5k participants have finished. We encourage you to stick around and celebrate the accomplishments of our amazing participants!

The Route

All races start at the Blue Point Primary School, located at 174 Pine Point Road.

The Kids Fun Run will take place on Blue Point School property.

The 1/2 Mile Dash will leave Blue Point School, go northeast/east down Eagles Nest Drive for a quarter of a mile, then turn around at the end of Eagle’s Nest and return back to Blue Point School.

The 5K race will start on Eagles Next Drive (adjacent to Blue Point School parking lot), go through the Blue Point Primary School parking lot, and then go east/southeast down Pine Point Road. There is a turnaround at the end of Pine Point Road (in the parking lot of Maine Seafood Ventures, right before the Clambake) and participants will return back to Blue Point School. Volunteers and signage will be present along the route, as well as a water station at the turnaround point.  Here is a map of the 5K route:

Parking

Parking will be available in the Peterson Field parking lot, located at 138 Old Blue Point Road (a short walk from Blue Point School).

Race Packet Pick-up

Participants in the 5k run/walk and 1/2 mi dash can pick up their race bibs and packets at the following times and locations:

  • Friday, April 10 – 5:00-6:30 PM at Blue Point Primary School
  • Race Day, Saturday, April 11 – Beginning at 8:00 AM at Blue Primary Point School

Participants in the Kids’ Fun Run do not need to pick up a packet, but guardians of participants will need to sign a waiver on the day of the race.

Awards/Age Groups

5K:  The age groups are as follows: Overall; 14 and under; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60+.  First-place male and female in each age group will be awarded prizes.

½ Mile Dash:  Kids ages 12 and under are welcome to run this event. Parents may run with their child(ren) for free. First-place male and female in each age group will be awarded prizes. Age groups for prizes are as follows: 5 and under, 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12.

Kids’ Fun Run: All participants will receive a medal upon successful completion of the Kids’ Fun Run!

Registration

Registration will open online in late October. Register by March 15 to guarantee a race shirt!

  • 5K – $30 adults | $20 students (18 & under)
  • Kids ½ Mile Dash – $15 (12 & under)
  • Kids Fun RunFree! Join the fun—no fee required! Families who wish to show their support for the PTA are encouraged to make a voluntary donation via Venmo @Scarborough-PrimaryPTA (“Race 2 The Point” in the memo) or by check, mailed to the PTA or dropped off on race day.

Race-day registration will be permitted on a space-available basis. Fees increase to $30/$20 for the 5K and $15 for the ½-Mile Dash. Race-day payments may be made by cash or check only.
